Slow down before tight turns
Twenty knots on a monitor produces the visual sensation of about ten. The advice to "taxi at a walking pace" cannot fix this, because your sense of walking pace is exactly the thing that's broken. Put the groundspeed readout in your scan and obey it for the next fifty flights, the way a student pilot leans on the airspeed indicator before learning to read attitude.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,672 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,672 m of the 3,491 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 480 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with taxiing from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 11 minutes and covered a distance of 3 nautical miles (nm). The aircraft, an Airbus A320, then departed from runway 13L at Liszt Ferenc International Airport (LHBP) in Budapest, Hungary. The takeoff distance covered 45% of the runway and reached a liftoff speed of 154 knots (kt).
During the initial climb, the aircraft ascended from ground level to an altitude of 39,463 feet (ft) above sea level. This climb was achieved over a distance of 142 nm and took 20 minutes to complete. The flight path took the aircraft from Vecses, a settlement in Pest county, Hungary, to the point where enroute level cruise started 5 miles north of Savarsin in Arad, Romania. This marked the beginning of a short 9-minute cruise at level, during which the aircraft covered an additional 78 nm.
Following the cruise, the aircraft initiated its enroute descent from an altitude of 39,383 ft to 1,492 ft above sea level over a distance of 115 nm. This descent took 26 minutes to complete, commencing 2 miles north of Balanesti in Gorj, Romania. The flight subsequently entered the final approach phase, heading towards runway 08R at Henri Coandă International Airport (LROP) in Bucharest, Romania.
The final approach to runway 08R, which was 3,491 meters (m) in length, was conducted from the west with a heading of 84.0°, 4 nautical miles away, and 1,167 ft above ground level (agl). The aircraft was aligned perfectly with the runway touchdown zone. After a smooth landing, the aircraft came to a stop, having covered 1,596 m or 46% of the runway. However, the touchdown speed of 132 kt was slightly above the target value.
Taxiing to the parking area from the runway took a mere 4 minutes and covered 1 nm. Overall, the flight had a total distance of 345 nm and lasted for 70 minutes, using 2,740 kilograms (kg) of fuel.
The Airbus A320 has successfully landed at LROP Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport, showcasing a high level of precision and control. The aircraft executed a final approach to runway 08R from the west, heading 84.0° at a distance of 4 nautical miles and an altitude of 1,167 feet above ground level. This indicated a well-planned and executed approach procedure, likely involving careful analysis of wind conditions and aircraft performance.
As the aircraft touched down on the runway, it maintained a speed of 136 knots, which was slightly above the target threshold speed. However, the touchdown point was 68 meters beyond the touchdown zone, which suggests that the landing may have been slightly long. Nevertheless, the touchdown speed of 132 knots was still slightly high, indicating that the aircraft may have been in a slightly accelerated state.
The touchdown rate of -332 feet per minute was described as firm, which is generally considered acceptable. The runway touchdown alignment was excellent, indicating that the aircraft had been properly aligned with the runway during the final approach and touchdown phases. The local weather conditions at the time of landing featured a temperature of 11°C, wind speed of 4 knots from 300°, and a total crosswind component of 2 knots, with a slight tailwind of 3 knots.
Overall, the total landing distance was 1,596 meters, which represents 46% of the available runway length of 3,491 meters. This suggests that the aircraft had enough runway length to safely come to a stop after landing. Finally, the runway rollout alignment was perfect, indicating that the aircraft had been properly controlled during the rollout phase to maintain directional control and prevent any loss of traction.
