Reduce your height at the threshold
Even a modest height error carries straight through to the touchdown. Geometry alone says that crossing the threshold 10 feet high on a 3° path moves your touchdown roughly 190 feet further down the runway before the flare adds anything.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
The approach that landed joined below the 1,000 ft and 500 ft gates, after a go-around. The gate assessed on the earlier approach is not shown - it was not the landing's.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,044 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 605 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
Departing from Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (LHBP), the Embraer E175 began its takeoff roll on runway 31R. The aircraft accelerated to a liftoff speed of 152 kt, clearing the runway in 1,130 meters, which accounted for 31% of the available length. The local weather conditions were favorable, with a temperature of 19 °C and a gentle headwind of 10 kt from 310°.
As the aircraft climbed away from LHBP, it transitioned into a steady enroute climb, reaching an altitude of 4,025 ft asl in just 2 minutes. The climb was characterized by a significant increase in altitude, with a gain of 2,605 ft. The aircraft then leveled off at 4,025 ft asl for 6 minutes, covering a distance of 24 nm. Subsequent enroute descents and climbs were executed to navigate the aircraft through the Hungarian airspace, with the final approach being initiated from the north west, heading 132.0° at 4 nm and 1,234 ft agl.
The Embraer E175 touched down on runway 13R at LHBP, with a touchdown speed of 123 kt, which was slightly above the target. The touchdown point was 245 m beyond the touchdown zone, and the runway touchdown position was misaligned by 9.1 m from the centreline. The total landing distance was 2,399 m, accounting for 80% of the available runway length. Following touchdown, the aircraft rolled out, with the runway rollout alignment being slightly misaligned by 10.2 m from the centreline. The total flight distance was 65 nm, and the aircraft used -2 kg of fuel during the flight.
The Embraer E175 aircraft touched down on runway 13R at LHBP Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport, with a threshold height that met expectations. However, the threshold speed was slightly above the target, registering 133 kt. The aircraft's descent was controlled, with a touchdown speed of 123 kt, which was a little fast, but the touchdown rate of -196 fpm was satisfactory.
The touchdown point was located 245 m beyond the designated touchdown zone, indicating a slight over-run. The runway touchdown position was also misaligned by 9.1 m from the centreline, which could have been a result of the crosswind component of 10 kt at 310°. The local weather conditions, with a temperature of 19 °C and a wind speed of 10 kt, did not significantly impact the landing. The aircraft's total landing distance of 2,399 m was 80% of the runway length, which is within acceptable limits.
During the rollout phase, the aircraft's alignment was slightly off-centre, deviating by 10.2 m from the centreline. Despite this, the overall landing performance was satisfactory, with a score of 91.4%. The crew's ability to maintain control and navigate the aircraft to a safe touchdown was evident, although there is room for improvement in terms of speed management and alignment during the rollout phase.
