Improve the pattern downwind leg
The 45-degrees-behind-the-wing cue assumes you can turn your head and use peripheral vision. Downwind spacing cues like "put the wingtip halfway up the strut" assume a fixed, known eyepoint. Neither survives a monitor unmodified. If you fly on a fixed monitor, stop pretending and fly a numbers-based circuit.

The threshold, the flare and the hold-off. The approach that led to it is the stabilisation gates below.
One stabilised approach gate for a circuit: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate is an instrument-approach check and does not apply.
Side view — the last 5,000 ft of the approach.
Plan view — the first 5,000 ft of the 5,502 ft runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 1,989 ft past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a taxiing period from the parking area to the runway, which took approximately 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The aircraft, a PA28 Warrior II, then departed from runway 20 at KUZA Rock Hill - York County Airport. The takeoff distance was 672 feet, which accounted for 12% of the runway length. The liftoff speed was 56 knots, and the local weather conditions at the time of departure were characterized by a temperature of 47°F and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 230°.
The wind conditions resulted in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The pilot then entered a left-hand pattern from runway 20, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile in 45 seconds. The subsequent left-hand pattern crosswind leg was completed in 24 seconds, with a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The pilot then proceeded to the downwind turn, which covered a distance of 1 nautical mile and involved an angle of 67.6° to the runway.
The downwind leg itself covered a distance of 2 nautical miles in 94 seconds. The base leg turn, which followed, covered a distance of 2 nautical miles and involved an angle of 45.8° to the runway. The base leg itself was completed in 53 seconds, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The final turn, which preceded the final approach, was completed in 40 seconds, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile.
The final approach to runway 20 was made from the north, with a heading of 191.0° and an altitude of 345 feet above ground level (agl). The landing was completed on runway 20, which had a length of 5,502 feet. The threshold height was good, and the threshold speed was slightly below the target speed of 58 knots. The touchdown point was 521 feet beyond the touchdown zone, with a touchdown speed of 44 knots and a touchdown rate of -81 feet per minute (fpm), which was considered excellent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned from the centerline by 14 feet. The local weather conditions at the time of landing were characterized by a temperature of 46°F and a wind speed of 4 knots from a direction of 230°, resulting in a crosswind of 2 knots and a headwind of 3 knots. The total landing distance was 2,397 feet, which accounted for 44% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was very good.
The flight concluded with a taxiing period from the runway to the parking area, which took approximately 2 minutes and covered a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 9 nautical miles, and the flight duration was 10 minutes. The aircraft used 5 pounds of fuel during the flight.
The PA28 Warrior II aircraft successfully landed at KUZA Rock Hill - York County Airport, achieving a score of 95.4%. The final approach was conducted from the north, heading 191.0° at 1 nm and 345 ft above ground level (agl). The aircraft touched down on runway 20, which has a length of 5,502 ft.
The threshold height was reported as good, but the threshold speed was slightly below the target at 58 knots. This minor deviation did not significantly impact the overall performance of the landing. The touchdown point was 521 ft beyond the touchdown zone, which is a relatively minor deviation. The touchdown speed of 44 knots was within the acceptable range, and the touchdown rate of -81 ft per minute (fpm) was excellent, indicating a smooth and controlled descent.
The runway touchdown position was slightly misaligned by 14 ft from the centreline, which may require some adjustments in the approach or landing technique to achieve a more precise alignment. The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were characterized by a temperature of 46°F, with a wind speed of 4 knots at 230°. The crosswind component was minimal at 2 knots, while the headwind component was 3 knots.
The total landing distance of 2,397 ft was 44% of the runway length, which is a relatively efficient use of the available runway. The runway rollout alignment was very good, indicating that the aircraft was well under control during the rollout phase. Overall, the landing was successful, with only minor deviations from the ideal performance.
