Maintain the centreline
A small uncorrected heading error at 40 knots becomes a metre of offset per second by 100 knots, noticed only at rotation, producing a crabbed liftoff. Root cause is nearly always eyes on the tape instead of the far end of the runway. Small heading changes displace a distant point visibly long before the nearby centreline stripes look wrong.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,626 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,626 m of the 3,662 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 422 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The Airbus A330-900 taxied from the parking area to runway 09 at WADD Ngurah Rai International Airport, covering 7 nm in 33 minutes.
During the departure roll on runway 09, the aircraft used 1,296 m of runway, representing 43 % of the available length, and lifted off at 168 kt. Ambient conditions were a temperature of 33 °C, wind from 130° at 19 kt, with a cross-component of 13 kt and a head-component of 14 kt.
The initial climb commenced overhead WADD, climbing from 979 ft asl to 6,537 ft asl, an increase of 5,558 ft achieved in 2 minutes while covering 7 nm.
A level cruise segment began 3 mi south-east of Nusa Dua, lasting 2 minutes and extending 8 nm.
A subsequent climb started 6 mi south of Jimbaran, ascending from 7,000 ft asl to 34,000 ft asl, a gain of 27,000 ft in 21 minutes over 148 nm.
The next cruise phase originated 8 mi north-east of WAPZ Pasuruan Airport, persisting for 41 minutes and covering 352 nm.
Descent began 62 mi north of Indramayu, descending from 34,002 ft asl to 5,009 ft asl, a loss of 28,993 ft in 21 minutes while traveling 131 nm.
A brief cruise followed 4 mi south-west of Kresek, lasting 2 minutes and spanning 6 nm.
Another descent started 4 mi west of Cikupa, dropping from 4,340 ft asl to 1,263 ft asl, a decrease of 3,078 ft in 4 minutes and covering 10 nm.
The final approach to runway 07R at WIII Soekarno-Hatta International Airport was executed from the south-west on a heading of 68.0°, at 4 nm and 1,223 ft agl.
Landing on runway 07R, which is 3,662 m long, was achieved with a threshold speed of 135 kt. Touchdown occurred 422 m down the runway at 133 kt, with a firm touchdown rate of minus 310 fpm and a lateral deviation of 6.6 m from the centreline. Local weather at the time was 31 °C, wind from 20° at 10 kt, cross-wind component 8 kt and head-wind component 7 kt.
The total landing roll measured 1,543 m, equivalent to 42 % of the runway, and rollout alignment was reported as very good.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, covering 2 nm in 12 minutes.
In total, the flight covered 677 nm, required 109 minutes of elapsed time, and used 0 kg of fuel.
The Airbus A330-900 entered the final approach to runway 07R at WIII Soekarno-Hatta International Airport from the south-west on a heading of 68.0 °, 4 nm out and 1,223 ft agl. Local weather was 31 °C with wind 10 kt at 20 °, providing an 8 kt crosswind component and a 7 kt headwind. The approach was assessed as stabilised at the 1,000 ft gate, with gear, flaps, sink rate, glideslope and centreline all within limits.
At threshold the aircraft established a good threshold speed of 135 kt and began the flare. Touchdown distance was good at 422 m. The touchdown speed of 133 kt was a little fast and the touchdown rate was firm at minus 310 fpm. The aircraft touched down slightly misaligned by 6.6 m from the centreline.
The touchdown occurred with the noted speed, rate and lateral offset, confirming the figures recorded in the flare phase. The aircraft’s performance remained within the expected parameters for the runway.
Rollout continued with a total landing distance of 1,543 m, representing 42 % of the 3,662 m runway, and runway rollout alignment was very good. The overall landing received a final score of 96.1 %.
To refine future landings, reduce the touchdown speed slightly to bring it closer to the target threshold speed, and apply minor adjustments to achieve tighter centreline alignment at touchdown. These small changes will help convert the already strong performance into an even more precise result.
