Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

One stabilised approach gate: five checks where the approach path is 500 ft above the runway. The 1,000 ft gate was not assessed, because the approach did not join final that far out.
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 3,701 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
The 495 m touchdown sits inside the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
The flight began with a departure roll from runway 13L at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (LHBP). The aircraft, an Embraer E195, accelerated down the runway and lifted off at a speed of 19 kt, covering a distance of 281 m, which was 8% of the runway length. The local weather conditions at the time of takeoff were characterized by a temperature of 21 °C and a wind speed of 20 kt from a direction of 280°, resulting in a crosswind of 11 kt and a tailwind of 17 kt.
As the aircraft climbed away from the airport, it began its enroute climb approximately 1 mile northwest of the town of Ullo, in Pest megye, Hungary. The climb was steep, with the aircraft rising from an altitude of 1,086 ft above sea level to 865 ft in less than 1 minute, covering a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. This rapid ascent allowed the aircraft to quickly gain altitude and establish a stable climb profile.
After completing the enroute climb, the aircraft began its final approach to runway 31R at LHBP, approaching from the southeast at a heading of 313.0°. The aircraft was at an altitude of 405 ft above ground level (agl) and was approximately 1 nautical mile from the runway threshold. The local weather conditions at the time of the approach were characterized by a temperature of 21 °C and a wind speed of 16 kt from a direction of 282°, resulting in a crosswind of 8 kt and a headwind of 14 kt.
The landing was smooth and controlled, with the aircraft touching down on the runway at a speed of 125 kt. The touchdown point was 74 m beyond the touchdown zone, but the aircraft's alignment with the runway was perfect. The touchdown rate was also good, at -176 ft per minute (fpm). The total landing distance was 1,377 m, which was 37% of the runway length. The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the aircraft was well under control throughout the landing process.
After landing, the aircraft taxied to the parking area, taking approximately 23 minutes to cover a distance of less than 1 nautical mile. The total flight distance was 5 nautical miles, and the flight used a total of -3,557 kg of fuel.
The aircraft in question, an E195, successfully landed at LHBP Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in its approach and landing procedures. The final approach was initiated from the south east, heading 313.0° at a distance of 1 nautical mile and an altitude of 405 feet above ground level (agl).
The aircraft's performance during the landing was impressive, with a threshold height that was well within acceptable limits. The threshold speed of 130 knots was also satisfactory, indicating that the pilot had maintained control and was on track to make a smooth landing. The touchdown point was 74 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, which, while not ideal, was still within a reasonable distance.
The touchdown speed of 125 knots was also good, and the touchdown rate of -176 feet per minute (fpm) was within acceptable limits. This suggests that the pilot had managed to slow the aircraft down effectively and maintain control during the landing. The runway touchdown alignment was perfect, indicating that the pilot had maintained the aircraft's alignment with the runway throughout the approach.
The local weather conditions at the time of the landing were favorable, with a temperature of 21°C and a wind speed of 16 knots from 282°. This resulted in a crosswind of 8 knots and a headwind of 14 knots, which the pilot effectively managed during the landing. The total landing distance of 1,377 meters was 37% of the runway length, which is a reasonable distance considering the wind conditions.
The runway rollout alignment was also very good, indicating that the pilot had maintained control of the aircraft during the rollout phase and had brought it to a stop safely. Overall, the landing was a success, with the aircraft demonstrating a high level of proficiency in its approach and landing procedures.
