MY FS FLIGHTS
Flight Score
Know your rotation speed
A typical trainer rotates in the mid-50s of knots - a 172 at around 55 KIAS, climbing out at a Vy in the low 70s, though check your own POH rather than memorising Cessna's numbers - and the transferable rule is that Vr sits just above the stall speed in takeoff configuration. Rotate early because "it felt ready" and the aircraft lifts off inside ground effect, where induced drag is reduced, then climbs out of it into more drag. On a marginal-performance day the result is an aircraft that lifts off and then refuses to climb, sagging back towards the runway.

Two stabilised approach gates, each with five checks, where the approach path is 1,000 ft and 500 ft above the runway.
The approach, gate by gate
Side view — the last 1,524 m of the approach.
Plan view — the first 1,524 m of the 2,484 m runway, to the same scale as the side view.
Touched down 538 m past the threshold — beyond the full-score zone. The arrival was smooth.
The rest of the report
This flight involved an Embraer E190 aircraft taking off from runway 22L at EFHK Helsinki Vantaa Airport. Taxiing from the parking area to the runway took 10 minutes and covered a distance of 2 nautical miles (nm). The aircraft departed the runway with a takeoff distance of 879 meters, which corresponds to 28% of the runway's length.
The liftoff speed was recorded to be 145 knots, despite the presence of a 12-knot headwind at an angle of 220° and a 2-knot crosswind. The local weather conditions at the time consisted of a temperature of 17°C, with the wind being a primary factor in the flight's preparations.
As the aircraft began its enroute climb, it soared from an initial ground level to an altitude of 37,843 feet above sea level (asl), an increase of 36,614 feet in merely 19 minutes. This ascent covered a distance of 96 nm. Upon reaching the desired cruising altitude, the aircraft entered a level cruise for 7 minutes, covering 41 nm to the southeast of Korppoo, Finland.
Further enroute, the aircraft initiated its first descent from an altitude of 37,853 feet asl to an altitude of 4,027 feet asl. This decrease of 33,826 feet was accomplished in 12 minutes while covering 56 nm to the southeast of Mariehamn, Finland. As the aircraft regained altitude, it engaged in a brief level cruise 4 miles to the west of ESSN Norrtälje Airfield in Sweden. The aircraft then continued to descend to an altitude of 2,268 feet asl over a distance of 4 nm in 2 minutes, from 3,667 feet asl in close proximity to Knutby, Sweden.
A short level cruise followed as the aircraft passed 2 miles to the south of Almunge, Sweden. After that the aircraft initiated its final descent, and a final approach to runway 19L at ESSA Stockholm-Arlanda Airport was commenced from a heading of 190.0° at an altitude of 4 nm and 1,292 feet absolute height level.
The landing took place on runway 19L at ESSA Stockholm-Arlanda Airport, a runway that is approximately 2,484 meters in length. Upon touching down, the aircraft's landing point lay 119 meters beyond the designated touchdown zone, and a landing speed of 120 knots was recorded. In contrast, the threshold speed was well beyond the target value of 127 knots.
In addition, the runway touchdown alignment showed an exemplary positioning, while the crosswind component during the landing reached 5 kt with an 8 kt headwind. The local weather continued to feature a temperature of 16°C with a wind angle of 160°, and crosswind of 5 kt and headwind of 8 kt. Upon completing the landing, the aircraft had utilized a total distance of 1,379 meters, representing a utilization of 56% of the entire runway.
Runway rollout alignment proved to be flawless, indicating an efficient transition to taxiing after landing. Taxiing from the runway to the parking area took 23 minutes, covering a short distance of 1 nm.
Upon completing this flight, the Embraer E190 had traversed a total distance of 228 nm, lasting 66 minutes in total, and consumed 1,802 kilograms of fuel throughout the journey.
The Embraer E190 aircraft has undergone a comprehensive evaluation of its landing at ESSA Stockholm-Arlanda Airport. A near-perfect final approach was achieved with the aircraft approaching the runway at a heading of 190.0° from a height of 4 nautical miles and 1,292 feet above ground level. During the landing procedure, the aircraft maintained an impressive score of 98.2%, showcasing the exceptional skills of the pilot.
Upon reaching the threshold of runway 19L, the aircraft's altitude was slightly above the target height of 56 feet above ground level. However, this minor deviation didn't seem to affect the overall landing performance. The threshold speed, on the other hand, was significantly above the target, reaching 127 knots. This could potentially be related to the aircraft's high approach speed, and pilots may need to work on reducing the speed to meet the target of 97 kt, as per standard procedures.
The touchdown point was slightly beyond the designated touchdown zone, approximately 119 meters from the initial landing point. This minor deviation could be attributed to the slight overshooting of the target threshold speed or the aircraft's initial approach speed. The pilot's reaction to correct the descent and alignment of the aircraft might have also played a role in this minor discrepancy.
Upon touchdown, the aircraft was moving at a speed of 120 knots, which is faster than the standard target of 97 kt. This indicates that the pilot may need to work on reducing the flare to maintain a smooth touchdown speed and prevent a hard landing. However, in this case, the touchdown rate of -110 feet per minute was described as smooth, showcasing the pilot's ability to gradually slow down the aircraft during the touchdown process.
The aircraft's alignment with the runway during the rollout was described as 'perfect', demonstrating the pilot's exceptional skills in maintaining control and stability during the critical phase of landing. The runway length of 2,484 meters, combined with the headwind component, contributed to the efficient rollout, with the aircraft coming to a stop within 1,379 meters, covering a significant 56% of the total runway length. Overall, the Embraer E190's landing performance at ESSA Stockholm-Arlanda Airport showcases its adaptability and responsiveness to a variety of weather and environmental conditions.
